ADBA Meeting Schedule

The Apex Downtown Business Association conducts two meetings each month, conducted sequentially on the first Friday of each month. The first meeting, held at 8:30 am, is the Board meeting, where the ADBA Board of Directors debate and vote on actionable matters. The second meeting, held at 9:00 am, is the "membership" meeting, where ADBA members and other interested parties can share information and discuss matters concerning ADBA activities. Other meetings are "special call" meetings by the ADBA President. All are welcome to attend the meetings, which are held at the Halle Cultural Arts Center.

"Christmas on Salem Street" in Historic Downtown Apex

Our Annual "Christmas on Salem Street" events begin at 5:00 PM on Friday December 5th with Christmas Carols at the Depot, followed by the Lighting of the Apex Christmas Tree by Mayor Bill Sutton. Then Santa & Mrs. Claus arrive on one of the Horse Drawn Carriages at the front of the Downtown Fire House between 5:45 and 6:00 PM.

There will be 3 Horse Drawn Carriages (smaller size this year) for rides on Salem Street in Downtown Apex from 6:00 to 9:00 PM. The cost is $7.00 per person (children 2 & under ride free). Tickets will go on sale starting at 4:00 PM Friday the 5th under a WHITE TENT at the corner of N. Salem St. and Saunders St. (across from the Downtown Fire House).. Tickets are sold on a first come first serve basis, but approximate time appointments will be chosen & assigned to your purchased tickets, per available time slots at the time of your purchase. There are limited amount of tickets available, based on the 3 hour time for the carriage rides. The tickets tend to sell out fast, so come early to get into the purchasing line.

The Carriage rides are loading, start and return to drop you off in the Depot (Chamber of Commerce) Parking Lot. No tickets are sold at that location. Please arrive there close to and prior to the time assigned on your ticket. People will be boarded on the rides according to that assigned time and please remember those times are only approximate due to unknown exactness of the speed of the horses.

After Santa & Mrs. Claus arrive at 6:00 PM, they walk around Downtown Apex to talk & mingle with the children. They do not ride on the Carriage rides.

Because of the Carriage Rides selling out fast, we also have an added attraction. We have a "Kiddy Christmas Train Ride" which also runs from 6:00 to 9:00 PM and the ride loads, starts and returns to drop you off at the corner of N. Salem St. and Saunders St. (across from the Downtown Fire House). The cost is $4.00 per person (children 2 & under ride free). Those tickets go on sale at 5:30 PM Friday, following the same system as above under the same tent at the corner of N. Salem St and Saunders St.

Please note that for both the Carriage and Kiddy Train rides, children 12 & under must be accompanied by at least 1 adult.

Other Attractions & Activities:

  • "Make Your Own Ornament" in the areas in front of the Apex Chamber of Commerce (Old Train Depot) from 6 to 9 PM.
  • "Olde Time Photo Booths" with Christmas Costuming available.
  • Christmas Cookie Decorating
  • Face Painting
  • Sidewalk Carolers
  • Bell Ringing Group
  • Ballet (partial Nutcracker Performance) Exhibit

P.S. Don't forget about the Saturday December 6th Activities:

Christmas Parde on Salem Street in Downtown Apex NC

• Apex Rotary Pancake Breakfast, 7-11 AM at the Apex Downtown Fire House
• Pictures with Santa, 9AM - 2PM, will be at THE HALLE CENTER
• And the Grand Christmas Parade starts down Salem Street at 5:00 PM.

And on Sunday December 7th is the Annual Apex Historical Holiday Home Tour.

• This occurs from 1:00 to 5:00 PM and the cost is $10.00 per person.
Tickets can be purchased anytime in advance at the Apex Chamber of Commerce or the Rusty Bucket.

NOTE: The "Pictures with Santa" are being done at The Halle Center on Saturday Dec. 6th from 9:00 AM to 2:00PM. Tickets will be available starting at 8:30 AM. These tickets will be for one of the hourly time slots to help give you time to roam downtown and have a closer approximate time when to be in the actual picture line. It does help keep the line waiting time shorter. The cost for the "Pictures with Santa" is $20.00 for a CD of about 12 to 15 pictures. Children are also able to sit & visit Santa for no cost, but pictures are not allowed to be taken.

Again, thanks for your interest in Downtown Apex. We hope you have a most enjoyable experience and a Merry Christmas!!

All of the downtown restaurants and shops will be open for business Friday Evening and all day Saturday. Some will be open on Sunday too.
