ADBA Meeting Schedule

The Apex Downtown Business Association conducts two meetings each month, conducted sequentially on the first Friday of each month. The first meeting, held at 8:30 am, is the Board meeting, where the ADBA Board of Directors debate and vote on actionable matters. The second meeting, held at 9:00 am, is the "membership" meeting, where ADBA members and other interested parties can share information and discuss matters concerning ADBA activities. Other meetings are "special call" meetings by the ADBA President. All are welcome to attend the meetings, which are held at the Halle Cultural Arts Center.

The Apex Downtown Business Association is planning for the 4th Annual Apex Jazz & Music Festival, to be held on Saturday, September 20, 2014. The ADBA Jazz & Music Festival Committee recently announced the acts appearing at the Beer & Wine Garden – Main Stage. The Committee is also seeking volunteers to help with staffing the event. Please go to www.apexjazzfestival.com for more information. Over 10,000 fans attended last year's Jazz & Music Festival to see some awesome music and had a great time despite the rainy weather. "Christmas on Salem Street" in Historic Downtown Apex

Our Annual "Christmas on Salem Street" events begin at 5:00 PM on Friday December 6th with Christmas Carols at the Depot, followed by the Lighting of the Apex Christmas Tree by Mayor Keith Weatherly. Then Santa & Mrs. Claus arrive on one of the Horse Drawn Carriages at the front of the Downtown Fire House between 5:45 and 6:00 PM.

There will be 2 Horse Drawn Carriages (Sleighs) for rides on Salem Street in Downtown Apex from 6:00 to 9:00 PM. The cost is $7.00 per person (children 2 & under ride free). Tickets for carriage rides will go on sale starting at 4:00 PM Friday December 6th under a TENT at the corner of N. Salem St. and Saunders St. (across from the Downtown Fire House).. Tickets for carriage rides are sold on a first come first serve basis, but approximate time appointments will be chosen & assigned to your purchased tickets, per available time slots at the time of your purchase. There are a limited amount of tickets available, based on the 3 hour time for the carriage rides. The tickets tend to sell out fast, so come early to get into the purchasing line.

The Carriage rides are loading, start, and return to drop you off in the Depot (Chamber of Commerce) Parking Lot. No tickets are sold at that location. Please arrive there close to and prior to the time assigned on your ticket. People will be boarded on the rides according to that assigned time and please remember those times are only approximate due to unknown exactness of the speed of the horses.

After Santa & Mrs. Claus arrive at 6:00 PM, they walk around Downtown Apex to talk & mingle with the children. They do not ride on the Carriage rides.

Because of the Carriage Rides selling out fast, we also have an added attraction. We have a "Kiddy Christmas Train Ride" which also runs from 6:00 to 9:00 PM and the ride loads, starts and returns to drop you off at the corner of N. Salem St. and Saunders St. (across from the Downtown Fire House). The cost is $4.00 per person (children 2 & under ride free). Those tickets go on sale at 5:30 PM Friday, following the same system as above under the same tent at that corner of N. Salem St and Saunders St.

Please note that for both the Carriage and Kiddy Train rides, children 12 & under must be accompanied by at least 1 adult.

Our newest event this year is a "WINTER WONDERLAND" – featuring real snow to play in and riding sleds down a large snow-covered slide .

This activity will also occur from 6 to 9 PM and be located in the Empire Cigar Parking Lot also across from the Downtown Fire House.

Also, we are again having "Make Your Own Ornament" in the area next to the Winter Wonderland from 6 to 9 PM.

P.S. Don't forget about the Saturday December 7th Activities:

Santa visits with children Christmas on Salem Street in Downtown Apex NC

• Apex Rotary Pancake Breakfast, 7-11 AM at the Apex Downtown Fire House
• Pictures with Santa, 9AM - 2PM, will be at a new location this year at THE HALLE CENTER
• The Grand Christmas Parade starts down Salem Street at 5:00 PM.

And on Sunday December 8th there is the Annual Apex Historical Holiday Home Tour.

• This occurs from 1:00 to 5:00 PM and the cost is $10.00 per person.
Tickets can be purchased anytime in advance at the Chamber of Commerce or the Rusty Bucket.

NOTE: The "Pictures with Santa" are being done at The Halle Center this year on Saturday Dec. 7th from 9:00 AM to 2:00PM. Tickets will be available starting at 8:30 AM. These tickets will be for one of the hourly time slots to help give you time to roam downtown and have a closer approximate time when to be in the actual picture line. It does help keep the line waiting time shorter. The cost for the "Pictures with Santa" is $20.00 for a CD of about 12 to 15 pictures. Children are also able to sit & visit Santa for no cost, but pictures are not allowed to be taken.

Again, thanks for your interest in Downtown Apex. We hope you have a most enjoyable experience and a Merry Christmas!!
