Welcome to Studio 123 -- The working studio of local artists, Janet Harrell and Susan Hecht. Their paintings have received awards in juried shows and are represented in corporate and private collections throughout the country. Additionally they exhibit their work in several other galleries throughout the southeast.
Janet, a native of NC, graduated from Meredith College in 1979 with a Bachelors Degree in Fine Arts. She has been an Art Teacher in the Wake County School System sharing her love of art with thousands of students for over 25 years. Janet’s work is characterized by energetic brush strokes and lush color. Her subject matter includes landscapes and architecture in an impressionist style. She wants her artwork to be fresh and delight you with color. Janet also exhibits her work at ArtSource Gallery in Raleigh.
Susan graduated from the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and a minor in Advertising / Public Relations. Although she started her career in advertising, Susan eventually found her way into the fine art world. Susan works in a variety of media, but mostly concentrates on acrylics. Susan approaches painting, much as she does life...with a sense of playfulness. She says, “With Art, as in life, it is all about the journey… ” Her work is also displayed at Vincent Hester Gallery in Portsmouth Virginia, The Marshall Gallery in Greensboro NC, Art Escape LTD in Morehead City NC and the Sandpiper Gallery near Charleston, SC.
You can usually find Susan and Janet busily painting in their studio, and enjoying the charm of historic downtown Apex.
